I've moved a bunch of video files to the video folder in MythDora. I can watch them all. Most are .avi files however there are a few .mpeg files.

If I'm watching one of the .mpeg files then I can skip ahead 30 seconds, 10 minutes and save position.

If I'm watching one of the .avi files then I can't skip ahead 30 seconds, 10 minutes or save position. (I can skip ahead 30 seconds if I use the keyboard however)

I'm using Xine as the video player.

Also when I click to watch a .mpeg file the video just starts. When I click to watch a .avi files it goes to the xine player (for about 1.5 seconds) then starts.

I tried to find this topic in the forum but no luck. Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks.

You are not using xine for

You are not using xine for both mpeg and avi files. xine does not handle position saving for one. So it's clear that the internal player is being used when playing mpeg files. If you're using the list view of mythvideo it should show you what player is being used for each respective file type. It will either say "internal" or be blank I believe for the internal player while the other will clearly state xine.

You will need to setup your

You will need to setup your remote to use the proper keys for whatever program your using. This is in your lircrc file. The FAQ has a write-up on how to change all this. But if your using Xine for both mpeg and avi then your remote will work for both just the same.

As for the 1.5 second wait, that's not that bad. Xine probably just does this with .avi files. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi Dennis, Thanks for the

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Just to clarify...you say. "But if your using Xine for both mpeg and avi then your remote will work for both just the same."

Is this after I do the setup or the proper keys? Do you mean I will have to set-up to work with .avi files or should it be working already? Is this a common issue?

Thanks for your help on this.

Cheers,

Dave

What I meant was is if both

What I meant was is if both mpeg and avi bring up Xine then the remote will work just the same for both. But if say .avi brings up mplayer for example then editing your lircrc file maybe needed to make your keys work the way you want them too. Not everyone uses the same keys for the same thing so some may wish to edit this file.
