Hi, MythN00b again,..LOL
My provider is Verizon (FIOS) and I'm sending my Mythbox the signal after it goes through their box. I can view the broadcast but when I schedule a recording it changes the channel on the hauppage card and only records static. In my testing I always leave the verizon box on the channel I want to record.
Does the hauppage card have the capability to replace the verizon box? Is that the normal setup? Or can I tell the program to not change the hauppage card's channel?
Thanks!

In order for MythTV to work correctly it has to control your STB. That means it has to change the channels on the STB. That can be done either by a serial or usb connection or by a serial IR Blaster. You will need to check the lirc site to see if it supported but it doesn't look like it. So you may have to use the irrecord option in lirc to record your STB's remote.

Hmm,
Well the STB is made by Motorola and its model number is "QIP2500-3". The remote that came with the Hauppauge card does control my Mythbox...so at least that part is working. It also has the cable that attaches to the IR on the STB. The STB does have a DB9 labeled "DATA" on the back panel - so maybe serial is an option.
I'll try the "irrecord" first and if that doesn't work then I'll have to make a serial cable.
