First I have to complement the fine work you have done in making myth easy to install. I can remember the countless hours I invested in getting it running.

Everything seemed to install fine. I think I have to tweak a couple of things with your help. I have a Pundit-R.

1) DVD video playback is choppy. I have checked to make sure DMA is on for both DVD and HD. I ran xine-check to make sure everything is properly setup. It says OUCH when it comes to plugins and suggests that I re-install xine-lib. Is this just running apt-get install xine-lib? Is there something else I should try?

2) When the box is booting up, just before the login it states the following
Wine
IVTV tried to open YUV output device but need to send data to mpeg decoder
What does this mean? I googled to find others with this problem but it is unclear as to what the problem is or how I fix it.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

DVD is choppy

i altered the video playback for the xine to
xine -pfhq -V xshm --no-logo --no-splash %s

i can rip then play back just fine, but if i play directly from the DVD its still choppy. DMA is enabled. any clues?

Try using -xxmc instead of

Try using -xxmc instead of xshm and see if that helps.

Thanks for the compliment. Ye

Thanks for the compliment. Yes try doing an apt-get install xine-lib if it's not already there. You also might want to try and use some extra command line switches. This will be in the frontend setup under DVD playback I think. Try something like this:

xine -pfhq -V xshm --no-logo --no-splash %s

For your IVTV message I wouldn't worry about that. I think thats just a message that the ivtv driver puts out when being initialized. Your tuner card should still work. I'm guessing its a Hauppaugge card ;-).

DVD Performance

Your suggestion for xine has made a great improvement for DVD playback - Thanks!

I do have a couple more questions.

During the install I chose PVR 350 TV out - but the output is to my monitor - what do I have to do to get it to the TV? Would you happen to know if the TV out from a Pundit is preferable to the 350?

I would also like to install MythBurn. As a total novice when it comes to linux, what exactly do I need to do to get the rpms you have listed installed? Is there another process to download them?

Thanks!

Glad the DVD option worked fo

Glad the DVD option worked for you. I may use it myself. You shouldn't have any problems getting things to work on your TV. And yes the Pundit's TV-Out will work just fine. It will look just as good as the 350's. What version Pundit do you have, the ATI or SiS chipset video? I'll need to know that.

As for MythBurn, thats all included in your install. Just go to MythWeb and you'll see the tab for it at the top. I believe your looking at another section here at G-Ding that I did for MythBurn. Thats a seperate instance for anyone who has MythTV installed and not using MythDora.

Follow up

Thanks for your reply.

The Pundit I have has the ATI chipset. If I have a TV that supports S-Video - should I be using that?

I am not sure where to look for Mythweb. You are not talking about Mythbrowser buried in the information centre are you? The only reference I could find when googling was to type http://[name or ip address]/mythweb/ in a browser. Should I add this to Mythbrowser?

During the install it asks about setting up a static ip - I am not sure what to do.

At present I am using the built in lan from the pundit. From my non MythDora days I had a wireless card installed in the pundit. Any suggestions as to how I get this working in Mythdora?

Sorry to bombard you with questions - maybe my contribution can be coming up with all the novice questions :)

Thanks!

Frank

Yes you can use your TV with

Yes you can use your TV with S-Video. Heres my xorg.conf that works perfect with my Pundit-R. I can't help you on the wireless part. Just too much detail to go into. As for a static IP, it's pretty self explanatory. Just enter an IP like 192.168.0.25 and 255.255.255.0 and a DNS server IP and your done.

MythBurn

Thanks for the file - I'll give it a try!

For the static IP I wasn't sure why it is required?

How do I start MythBurn?

Thanks,

Frank

All you have to do is go to M

All you have to do is go to MythWeb and the MythBurn tab is at the top. Once your in there its pretty easy.

"Please ignore the man behind the curtain"
Dennis

I think I know why I could not find mythburn

The reason I couldn't find mythburn initially was because I thought it was part of the GUI. When I realized I had to type a url into firefox - the url didn't work.

When I type http://192.168.0.4/mythweb/ it doesn't work.
Typing http://192.168.0.4/ goes to http://192.168.0.4/program_listing.php which works.

Also the following does not work
http://MythDora/mythweb/
http://localhost/mythweb/

I think this also creates problems for me when I use another box to use mythweb streaming because the link in mythweb points to MythDora which I can't seem to find. Using the other machine and typing the ip of the MythDora box appears to work.

When I type echo $HOSTNAME it replies Mythdora.

Any suggestions?

Yeah it's always worked if yo

Yeah it's always worked if you just type in the IP address. I think it would also work if you just type in http://MythDora which you didn't try. As far as using another box to stream, I have a fix for MythStreamTV at the bottom of the main page. Just follow the directions and your streaming should then work OK.

Stream Patch

I followed your instructions and did the removal and install of the new patch.

I installed using rpm -ivh mythstreamtv-1.0.i386

Everything seemed to work fine although I am unsure if this output is problematic.

....Checking MythWeb Installation: Required - Installing...
./install.sh: line 187 InstallToNewMythWeb: command not found
..Fixing up file permissions: Done

Like you said http://MythDora works.

Thanks!

Frank

On your second box, just add

On your second box, just add a host entry for mythdora. Under windows XP the file to edit is C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (from memory)...

Enter the following:-
192.168.0.4 mythdora

(assuming the ip address of your myth box is 192.168.0.4

Cheers

Blacksun

I'll give this a try

I'l give this a try - Thanks!
