I\'ve imported 7 days of schedules and they all display. Man what a mission is was getting all 60 odd channels setup. No i gotta get all the logos sorted out. I saw something about an xml file for that but havent looked into it yet.<br />\nMyth doest have za as a standard in the lists for getting xmltv data. Can i link one of those that are provided to my tv_trabber ? ( delete one of the grabbers and rename mine to the one i deleted ?<br />\nI am also between 2 minds wheather i should use the av out of the various decoders, or if i should pull from the RF cable. RF will be easier as i wont have to make a switchbox to select between the 2 different sources, or maybe i use the satelite on av and the terrestial on RF.</p>\n<p>Anyways - thanx for the help. Since I\'m in the states, we use data direct which just freakin works. It\'s really nice. Your not the only one I\'ve chatted with about using xmltv. It would be nice to somehow incorporate all this for the folks outside of the U.S. that don\'t use standard grabbers. Ok, i've downloaded 1.5 and made my CD.
I want my machine to be front and backend and redirect X trough the tv-out on my pvr 350.
The tv out must run through the composite out ( not the svideo out ) and the sound via the line-out.
I need to setup my channels for South Africa.
I setup one channel on the composite in and it works.

When i did the install first chose pvr 350 using tv-out, but that didnt seem to send anything to the tv-out ( the xorg.conf didnt conaint my tv screen, only a monitor )

I installed again choosing prv 250/350.

What do i need to do/change to try and get tv-out working.

PS somewhere during faffing around i lost all response from the keyboard. CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE still worked though and fixed the problem when x restarted.

Sorry but your gonna need to figure how to get TV-Out working for your 350. MythDora can only do so much. There is manual editing needed when doing this type of install. Your gonna need to know your pci device and the fb I believe. I'll try and track down a post here recently from a member that got this working.

Edit - Ok I found that link from blacksun. Pay close attention to what he says about me having extra modules in modprobe.conf. He has his xorg.conf with whats needed and what he has in his modprobe.conf. This is as much help as I can give. I've never used/setup a PVR-350 before.

seems ivtv_pal parameter name has changed to just pal.

now i just gotta get the screen the right size. It goes off-screen just a bit in the left hand side. Ideas?

Should be just a matter of configuring. MythDora works out of the box for the execption of what your doing. Also keep in mind that MythTV WILL NOT work until you get channel listings in your database. Let us know if you get it working.

This channel thing is making

This channel thing is making my head flat. Is there somewhere that explains the relationship between channels and the info in the xmltv files? Also, what relation is there between the channel numbers in mythtv and the actual channel numbers. For instance, the DSTV ( SA ) channels dont run consecutively. 1,3,4,5,6,8,9,20,21,22, etc....

Do i need to set the channels up manually in mythtv using the xmlid and then do the import. The xml file channel defs only contain the xmlid and a description.

Ok all is working except for the damn screen size problem. I've imported 7 days of schedules and they all display. Man what a mission is was getting all 60 odd channels setup. No i gotta get all the logos sorted out. I saw something about an xml file for that but havent looked into it yet.
Myth doest have za as a standard in the lists for getting xmltv data. Can i link one of those that are provided to my tv_trabber ? ( delete one of the grabbers and rename mine to the one i deleted ?
I am also between 2 minds wheather i should use the av out of the various decoders, or if i should pull from the RF cable. RF will be easier as i wont have to make a switchbox to select between the 2 different sources, or maybe i use the satelite on av and the terrestial on RF.

Anyways - thanx for the help. Im hooked on mythdora now.
PS : i think the inclusion of wine for running dvd-shrink is brilliant. I would've prefered a Linux util, but i dont think there is much that can compete with dvd shrink on that level.

I'm not very familiar with xmltv as I said but I do sympathize with you. Since I'm in the states, we use data direct which just freakin works. It's really nice. Your not the only one I've chatted with about using xmltv. It would be nice to somehow incorporate all this for the folks outside of the U.S. that don't use standard grabbers. If you or someone else wanted to give me some specific directions on whats involved in getting this to work, maybe we can include this.
For your idea of renaming your grabber, heck I would try it. Why not. Just make sure you make copies first just to be safe. And thanks for the vote on DVD Shrink. Have you used it yet? This is still experimental and I haven't even used it yet. I just hear it works very good. If you get it working good, let me know how it goes.

Ok, i have some had some luck with tuning the channels on rf using ptune.pl. to use ptune-ui.pl you have to upgrade Video::Frequncies to 0.3 ( http://www.pcxperience.org/james/ivtv/video-frequencies/Video-Frequencies-0.03.tar.gz ). It doesnt work with the one that mythdora ships with.

I've managed to record some episodes ( texas chainsaw massacre for one ) and tried the streaming option, but i havent got it working yet.

Im also not getting music to identify via cddb. havent looked into it much though.

Im going to setup a postinstall script that will setup everything for za users ( the channels and the xmltv grabber, etc ).

Hmmm, I just looked into this and it seems as though you have to downgrade. MythDora has version Perl-Video-Frequencies-0.03-3. No way I can downgrade sorry. But glad you found the answer.
