Hi,
I have installed MythDora 3.2 for about one month and is now trial run before launching to my family. Recently I found a very annoying problem.
After viewing Live TV for some times (quite random, maybe 45 mins, maybe several hours), the video will suddenly skipped for 1 to 2 sec and then audio will then behind video consistently until I exit live tv mode.
Moreover, I also found that I can only run with MP3 quality setting = 9, otherwise backend will just abnormally end. This is not really important to me but not sure if it is related to the sync problem.
My system is:
Sempron 2800+
512MB RAM
Nvidia FX5500 (using old nvidia driver)
VIA chipset (Shuttle SK21G casing and MB)
Winfast TV2000XP Expert (PAL)
Recording with MPEG4
The total loading of frontend and backend is around 70% and I do not have any special background jobs running when running MythTV, so it should not be loading problem.
Anyone has similiar problem? Any clue to fix? I really would like to use MythDora to replace my DVD recorder but cannot launch with this nasty issue.

If this is totally random
If this is totally random then it will be almost impossible to fix. Only suggestion is to upgrade MythTV itself and see if that helps. Since your using a bttv type card, your successable to sync issues.

get hardware mpeg encoding
i used a bttv based card when i first started experimenting with mythtv/mythdora on a similar setup (2800 AMD athlon + 756mb RAM) i had various random audio synching issues & visual breakups..
i bought a cheap 2nd hand hauppaugge pvr150; and now have no such problems, playback is perfect and i am more than happy... so...
Yeah, you can't beat the 150

d00dtv, there is a way to upgrade MythTV itself on MD 3.2? Do tell!
Apparently the yum install
Apparently the yum install mythtv-suite doesn't work. I've updated the FAQ. Smart is supposed to work doing a MythTV upgrade very well. Here are the steps.
# yum install smart
# yum install atrpms-package-config
# smart update
# smart install mythtv-suite

I was able to get it going
I was able to get it going but the mythtv-suite rpm didn't do anything for some reason. I actually installed the smart gui as well and picked out the myth stuff.
Seems fixed, do not know why
Hi,
It seems that I might have fixed the problem by changing the audio sampling rate to 48kHz instead of the default 32k. Why I make such change is because I found from the net that VIA 8237 has problem in sampling rate other than 48kHz under Linux, though the problem mentioned does not relate to mine.
Anyway, I have run Live TV several times for 2 - 6 hours after this change. Occasionally I saw video stuttering but audio would be still in sync. This is acceptable by me.
I do not know why it could fix, and still do not know why the backend will still crash if sound quality is less 9.
