I give up on the whole make the existing IR crap work.
What do you all recommend that is somewhat easy to install and configure and will work with the MX-3000 and the Logitech 659?
All input welcome.

If you want to use the
If you want to use the logitech harmony remove just buy the cheapest linux compatible remote you can find. The quality of the remote you purchase won't matter, since you will be using the logitech remote as a replacement.
The microsoft mce remotes are nice, and are very well supported under linux, but it seems like a waste to fork out the extra cash for a nice remote when your not going to be using it anyway.
Also, the mx3000 keyboard\mouse kit is a rf (radio frequency) device, so it has no effect on IR devices.
I have a URC Home Theater
I have a URC Home Theater Master MX-3000 - universal remote control not Microsoft. I was figuring on using the Logitech Harmony 659 for the main remote because it is small like a regular remote.
What should I get for the IR receiver? I was looking at the Iguana Works Serial IR Transceiver or the USB-UIRT.
Which one is easiest to install and configure?
Or should I go even cheaper with just a serial IR cable?
I want to keep the installation easy.
