I have downloaded some bittorrents (desperate.housewives.323-caph.avi,
desperate.housewives.s03e22.hdtv.xvid-notv.avi) that do not play in
MythDora 4.0 - xine flashes a message that is too quick to grab and
then I'm back at the Video Manager -> Browse point.

Are all the various codecs available 'out-of-the-box' or do I need
to install additional packages?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Internal works for me

I'm running a standard install of Mythdora 4 and before that was Mythdora 3.2.

I've never had a problem playing xvids, divx, quicktime, and windows media files. I don't use Xine or Mplayer, I use Internal.

The only things I couldn't ever get to play were vcd's and svcd's, until the other day. I found this on the Knoppmyth forums:

Posted by willem in 2005

"My setup wouldn't allow me to play SVCD's from MythDVD. Changing the VCD playback command from:

Code:
mplayer vcd:// -cdrom-device %d -fs -zoom -vo xv
to
Code:
mplayer vcd://2 -cdrom-device %d -fs -zoom -vo xv

did the trick in my case. Now it can play back both VCD's and SVCD's"

Now I need to get my remote to work with Mplayer. I'd rather use Internal for Vcd's but haven't figured out how.

Same here...

Same here...

Its because Xine is missing codecs to play some files.

Im not familiar with Fedora, so can someone tell us where we can get the RPMs to add full codec support?

If its not available, how can i change from using Xine to mplayer for video playback?

Thanks!

Codecs

I'm having the same issue. I've downloaded the codecs from this location:

http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/

And installed them according to a FC5 guide I found http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_5_installation_notes.html#Codecs and it's worked before. I've done the same steps and I'm not getting any audio from some of my avi files. I'm using xine to ply them back. What else can I do?
