Hey all. Mac OS X user, Linux/BSD dabbler here. I've been using OS X hacked onto an x86 box as my media center machine but I'm hoping that MythTV/MythDora might do more for me.

I'm not looking to record any TV off of cable/antenna/satellite. As I'm outside the US and UK and I watch only US/UK shows I'm looking to download my favorite shows when they become available and have them automatically queued into a Windows MCE-like interface (OS X's Front Row would be better but I'll take what I can get!). A newsgroup downloading app would be cool too.

Can MythDora do this? It seems that most people are just using it as a TiVo-like DVR device.

Finally, I'd love to be able to connect my OS X machines to it so that I could stream downloaded shows to them. Has anybody gotten such an interface working?

Cheers,
DW

I should also mentioned that

I should also mentioned that I'd like to use a Shuttle SB86i box with integrated Intel 915G. The machine has only a VGA out and I'd love to put it on my HD TV. I'm not sure if that's doable but I'm inclined to say no.

re TV-out. you can get a

re TV-out. you can get a VGA-whatever converter for your TV, should work fine. some of them are expensive though.

AFAIK for downloading you could use rtorrent sitting inside your videos directory and load the torrent into rtorrent to download. once they are fully downloaded you can use myth front end to goto the video folder and see a list of all the show within. problem is there is still lots of manual interaction there.
