I am looking for tips and tricks to make a vmware server installation on my mythdora 4.0 server.
I want to use the server for several virtual machines - as I have always done on my knoppmyth.
Does any of you know how to install vmware server on mythdora 4.0?

You can
Im sure you can install vmware on FC6 here is a link to some helpful info related specifically to fc6.

It is going to require you to install the kernel source and the build utils because I dont think they are installed by default on mythtv.
What are you trying to run in vmware? I could think of a few small vm's that might work well, but from my experience mythtv is a very realtime system that does not like to wait for resources. I wouldnt want to try and run windows, or even another full linux distro on my system.
Depending on what you are trying to acomplish there are other linux friendly techs such as qemu and xen that might work.
I have been running my
I have been running my home-server with both mythtv and vmware server for a few years now - and it works perfectly.
The main server is a knoppmyth and on my vmware server i have some xps, linuxs and windows2003 server running at the same time. I think its 4 or 5 vms running 24-7 on top of my combined frontend/backend.
But now I want to move to Mythdora, since it looks really cool. But I really dont want 2 servers sucking power 24-7, along with other disadvanteges of anti-consolidating.
ONE server running everything is my current state and ONE server is what i want with my new stronger server running Mythdora 4.0
But the vmware server is not that willing it claims the kernel is not supported. So eigher someone helps me, or i use the any-any patch to make it work - or i wait until vmware server comes in a version that supports the kernel version.
I have installed the kernel-devel package, gcc and stuff like that, but that is not enough.
So - have any of you reading this done it?
Why don't you just use the
Why don't you just use the any-any patch like the post says and see if it works instead of asking here. You haven't gotten alot replies since you posted so it's pretty obvious people aren't using MythDora to do this sort of thing.
