Some other things I have to investigate further are getting the SQL communications to work so I can use the \"New Live TV\" and Scheduling functions to work (I seem to be able to connect to the database, and see all the data, but when I go to watch the station, or schedule a program to record the MVP app crashes and restarts. This may be the dongle version / build I\'m using but I haven\'t looked to far into the details yet,) and seeing if I can run flash videos (youtube and such.)</p>\n<p>I also have some other things roughly documented such as setting up a virtual X terminal session using vlc. I use this to run virtual X sessions that run all the time, and that you can connect to using a vlc client or a web browser ... so let\'s say I want to download a bittorrent video ... instead of using my laptop to download the torrent, then copy the video over to the MythDora box, I simply open my browser, browse to the virtual console, kick off firefox, download the bittorrent file, kick off azureus, load the bittorrent file, and start the download. I can now disconnect my browser from the session, but the session keeps on running, doing its download as though I were sitting at a real console ... I \"browse\" back later to see if the download is complete, and if it is I do whatever is needed, or if not I just disconnect and go away for a while longer.</p>\n<p>Anyway, just as soon as I clean everything up to make it readable, I\'ll post the info.</p>\n', created = 1368989453, expire = 1369075853, headers = '', serialized = 0 WHERE cid = '1:14b67da31f4e9fd2377ae8553e20621b' in /var/www/mythdora/html/includes/cache.inc on line 109.

Unable to get the PVP to connect to network (NO STREAMING SERVER FOUND). I swapped dongle.bin.mvp file which I downloaded from mvpmc.org. Executed mediamvp.sh from xterm (entered MAC address as 00:0d:fe:22:4f:0d - not sure if I should be using the :": charactor). Also updated the conf file which I found in a previous thread. After everything was done I did reboot unit and PC - still nothing. Are there any settings that need to be made whithin MythTV or am I not setting this up properly?

I am trying to get my H3 Wireless MVP to work. Still getting "NO STREAMING SERVER FOUND". I have this setup using DHCP hosted on MythBox (Disabled DHCP Services on Router) w/ Network set to Static IP. MediaMVP obtains the IP Address I assigned it.
1) Configured the DHCP server - disabled DHCP service on router
2) Downloaded, compiled, and ran the mvprelay program
3) Downloaded the current dongle.bin.mvpmc file and renamed it to dongle.bin. Then created the dongle.bin.ver file and dongle.bin.config file.
4) Edited the /etc/xinetd.d/tftp file; "disabled = no".
5) Set the NFS service to start automatically on reboot; "chkconfig nfs on"

Edited the
Edited the /etc/xinetd.d/tftp file; "disabled = yes" (you already have the tftp services you need staring in the /etc/rc.d/rc.local file.)
In your /etc/dhcpd.conf file your "range" (range 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.105;) overlaps your pre-assigned / reserved addresses (next-server 192.168.1.101 & fixed-address 192.168.1.103;)
The "range" is the addresses that will be assigned to "normal" machines on the network that get their IP addresses via DHCP. I would use just about anything except a range that included the address 192.168.1.101 and 192.168.1.103. for example use "range 192.168.1.20 192.168.1.50;"
Your mythtv box should probably be configured with a static address, in this case 192.168.1.101.
The MediaMVP gets its address from the "group" section, and should be automatically assigned 192.168.1.103 (assuming the hardware address you give, 00:0D:FE:22:4F:0C, is the wireless address and not the "wired" address ... there are two hardware addresses on a wireless MediaMVP, make sure you are using the wireless one.)
If that doesn't fix things, then respond back here with the following:
the output from the command "ps -ef |grep tftp"
the output from the command "/etc/rc.d/init.d/dhcpd status"
Login to your mythtv box, open a console window, and do the following:
create a temporary directory and "cd" into it. Then type the following:
-------------------------
#tftp localhost
tftp> get dongle.bin
tftp> quit
#
Then do:
#tftp localhost 16869
tftp> get dongle.bin.config
tftp> quit
#
------------------------
You should now see dongle.bin and dongle.bin.config in yur temporary directory ... if not, then you have an issue with tftp or the files in the /tftpboot directory.
When rebooting the MediaMVP, do a "ping 192.168.1.3" in a console window on your MythTV box ... when booting the MediaMVP you should see that at first you can't ping it, then it will be "pingable" for a few seconds and disappear again for several more seconds, and finally return and stay up .... let us know what you see.
Also, post any error message you may happen to see .... error messages are really good when you're trying to troubleshoot a problem.

Looks like a few of your posts and my response got deleted somehow, but to summarize, you confirmed all the individual processes and services were running and operating.
I did notice that you received 2 responses to the "netstat -na |grep 16881" command, both of them the same - ie:
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:16881 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:16881 0.0.0.0:*
You were able to manually tftp and transfer files to a local directory on both port 69 and 16869, and are able to ping the MVP but cannot telnet into it.
As I recall, the MVP (or at least the ones with flash, which include the Hx series) stores the address of the "default streaming media server" in flash memory, and it may be that it tries to connect to this default address and then simply gives up ... start up the Windows MVP software again and then reboot the MVP. This should get you to the screen that says "hit ok within 3 seconds", and then do so. This should get you into the screen where you can select the streaming media server you want to use (you should see two, assuming you still have the mvprelay service running on the MythTV box.)
Select the address of your MVP and see if that helps things.

FYI: The main problem turned out to be that the firewall on the MythDora install was turned on. Turning off the firewall allowed the communications between the MythDora box and the MediaMVP box.
We discovered this late last night, so there was no time to test a complete reboot to see if everything comes up automatically as it is suppose to.
Turning off the firewall - via gui with the system-config-securitylevel utility, or manually by "/etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables stop", then rename /etc/sysconfig/iptables-config to something else to keep the firewall from starting up on reboot.
Note: Turning off the firewall may not be the preferred choice, so it might be better if you just turn off the firewall during the installation and configuration process, get everything working to your satisfaction, then turn the firewall back on and modify the firewall to allow communications between the two boxes (TCP & UDP.) To do this you will have to learn some IPTables rule building (or if someone wants to post the additional rules to add to the iptables-config to allow all tcp & udp traffic between the mythdora box and a MediaMVP box that would help ... or I'll eventually get around to figuring out the proper iptables rules and post them here ... but that won't be for a few days, maybe even a few weeks.)
Googled install guide
OK everyone, thanks for the postings... I will be setting my Media MVP up this evening. I came accross this posting which goes into detail as to HOW TO SETUP the DHCP, TFTP, mvprelay, etc...
People NEW to MythTV may find this quite usefull:

Re: Hauppauge Media MVP
Just googled, and Model 86017 seems to be a rev H3 version of the Media MVP ... you will need to download, compile, and run the mvprelay.c program.

Here is the official How-To on making the MVP work. Again no mention of a second tftp or mvprelay. Also from the link I posted, I believe things work using this. This is what the included MediaMVP rm is base on. It's very basic and it uses the built in myth protocol.

Here is the thread from the mvpmc forum that verifies that the H3 version of the MVP requires the mvprelay or perlboot program.

Re: Hauppauge Media MVP
Quick basic checklist of steps needed for a "usual" MVP with MythTV configuration. I'm not familiar with the "mediamvp.sh" you mention. Where did you get this script?
1) Configure a DHCP server service to give MVP Box an IP address and boot from tftp server
2) Configure two tftp services (on on port 69, and the other on port 16869)
3) Download, compile, and run the mvprelay program (or the perl program which serves the same function, but which I don't use, and don't recall the name of.)
4) Download the dongle.bin.mvpmc file ... some people have reported problems with using the file using that name (I did as well,) so to be sure, rename it to dongle.bin.
5) Create a dongle.bin.ver file using the "dd if=dongle.bin of=dongle.bin.ver bs=1 count=40 skip=52" command.
6) Create a congle.bin.config file.
Note (all files in 4,5 and 6, should be in the /tftpboot directory.
Of course, there are lots of missing details for each of these steps, but at least this should give you an outline of the man steps ... if you forgot one, then you can work on that step ... if you've done all the steps, then you can start diving into the details.
OK, I now see where the
OK, I now see where the "mediamvp.sh" comes from ... I'm not sure this was written to be usable for all revisions of the Media MVP box.
I configured my system manually, using the outlines steps above.
My box is a non-wireless Rev H3, and has extra steps as compared to some of the lower rev levels. Also, wireless is a relatively new capacity for these boxes, so the dongle version has to be above a certain level as well (not sure what that is.)
There is no need to manually
There is no need to manually do anything as MythDora installs MediaMVP by default. All you need to do is execute the mediamvp.sh script. For LiveTV to work there is a post regarding this.

Gee, now you tell me
Gee, now you tell me ;-)
Actually though, since I am one of those who don't seem to have had the rpm included in my install, so I can't see what it does, I have a question (for the next time my machine cashes and I have to reinstall.)
I have the H3 rev, which requires both regular tftp on port 69 and a second instance of tftp listening on port 16869 ... along with mvprelay to respond to the search for a "streaming media server" as I understand it.
Does the rpm install the necessary instances of tftp and the mvprelay program(or the perl program that can replace mvprelay?)
Not sure why there's no mvp RMP on my install, but as I have it all configured and working (live tv, vlc streaming,) I'm not going to worry about it now ... just curious.
I created this rpm before
I created this rpm before the H3 even came out as I have the older model but I was not aware that the H3 needed anything special in order to work. I thought it worked just like the older ones. This post doesn't mention any of this. http://mythdora.com/?q=node/1870
The tftp program is installed but I have never heard of mvprelay. As for the install installation maybe it is an option during install but it is offered.
I have things doing a very basic connection with the DB using the built-in mythtv protocol. No NFS or anything like that.

As I understand it, the H1
As I understand it, the H1 and later versions have a "flash" thingy (that's a technical term for "I don't know exactly what it is or does, and I'm too lazy to go look it up",) that requires an extra boot and some special processing.
My understanding of the H1 and later systems is a process something like:
1) Booting the MVP it get's it's address from the DHCP server and the address of the tftp server to load the dongle.
2) MVP tftp's on port 69 to get the dongle to start the boot process.
3) When it loads it's primary loader it stores that in flash and then reboots.
4) On the second reboot it goes back to the second tftp server on port 16869 to get the dongle file again and the config file.
5) It loads the dongle and the config, then starts broadcasting for a "streaming media server".
6) This is where the mvprelay program comes in. It responds to the MVP request for a media server and tells it to look on this machine for the Mythtv backend service.
Now, don't take this as "bible", as I am not a mvpmc developer or anything close, this is just my understanding of the process as gleamed from struggling through the documents, wiki, and forums. I may have confused the order of things, and the actual reasons it does all the things it does, but I beleive the basic "double boot" information is more or less accurate.
I've documented all the steps I've gone though to get the system working on a MythDora system, including setting up the DHCP, tftp servers, and compiling and running the mvprelay, and will post them here once I've cleaned them up and made them readable.
So far I can do live TV, recordings, videos (via vnc) ... Some other things I have to investigate further are getting the SQL communications to work so I can use the "New Live TV" and Scheduling functions to work (I seem to be able to connect to the database, and see all the data, but when I go to watch the station, or schedule a program to record the MVP app crashes and restarts. This may be the dongle version / build I'm using but I haven't looked to far into the details yet,) and seeing if I can run flash videos (youtube and such.)
I also have some other things roughly documented such as setting up a virtual X terminal session using vlc. I use this to run virtual X sessions that run all the time, and that you can connect to using a vlc client or a web browser ... so let's say I want to download a bittorrent video ... instead of using my laptop to download the torrent, then copy the video over to the MythDora box, I simply open my browser, browse to the virtual console, kick off firefox, download the bittorrent file, kick off azureus, load the bittorrent file, and start the download. I can now disconnect my browser from the session, but the session keeps on running, doing its download as though I were sitting at a real console ... I "browse" back later to see if the download is complete, and if it is I do whatever is needed, or if not I just disconnect and go away for a while longer.
Anyway, just as soon as I clean everything up to make it readable, I'll post the info.
FYI - I have my Media MVP

Thanks for that writeup.
Thanks for that writeup. Glad I don't have one of these units. This looks to be a PIA. The older ones just simply worked. I'll have to really rework this in another rpm form for the H3 versions.
