I just got my M-Dora box working and it seems to be fine until I try to record a program. I can pause, rewind, and fast forward live tv and it works fine but when I try to record tv the tuner crashes.
The tuner crash is this: I can view tv until the recorder starts then the screen turns to snow - no sound, no picture. I can get it working again when I go into setup and delete/reinstall my card and source; however, if I try to record after that the entire problem starts again.
I don't know squat about Linux so I'm going to need some help finding logs, etc. I have upgraded MythTv through Yum after I installed MythDora 4 for the Schedules Direct fix.
I've rooted through the forum for approximately three days and I can't find a problem like mine to compare to. If I missed the thread somewhere on this forum, please point me in the right direction.
My system:
Gigabyte GA-7N 400 Pro 2
AMD Athlon 3000+ w/lapped stock heat sink
1 gig Corsair XMS 400 MHz FSB
160 GB Maxtor PATA
400 GB Maxtor PATA
Hauppauge 350 (using coax in)
Any help would be great and thanks,
Barry

Thanks guys for the quick response. I'll look into both of the suggestions and see how it goes. I'm thinking it's a combination of both of your ideas.
Thanks,
Barry
This sounds like an
This sounds like an incorrect mythtvsetup. Read over the Install Notes at the top which covers your card almost exactly.

This is a weird one.
This is a weird one. Technically there should be nothing different between live-tv & recorded tv except your capture settings. What do you have going on under recording profiles? Live-tv uses "live tv" recordings use default, low, or high... If you're not specifying a profile then default is in use. Check to see what Codec is in use and stream type.
I use mpeg2-ps for stream type in all of my pvr cards. If you have something else here it's possible you're blowing something up.
Also, you did setup a PVR based card and not a V4L card, correct?
Oh, and what does the /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log say?
