Things have changed in the repository forcing you to want to go to rpm-4.4. The version you have now uses rpm-4.3. So you can go at this 2 ways. You can either force an install of that missing rpm manually, rpm -ivh --force libbeecrypt6, and then go about installing rpm-build using apt, or you can do it the easy way and just install the rpm-build for the version your using now. So what I do is go to <a href=\"http://rpm.pbone.net/\">http://rpm.pbone.net/</a> and then use the advanced search and check off only FC3. Then do a search for rpm-build-4.3. Kernel source would help those who have to compile their own last bit, like lirc-streamzap.
DVB-core would allow an out-of-the-box-off-the-CD HD setup.

rpmbuild help

I finally got my setup working with MythDora with a PVR-150. Now I'm trying to get the remote to work. However I'm stuck on getting the kernel-source installed. I followed the instructions above, but I don't have the rpmbuild command.

[root@MythDora SPECS]# rpmbuild -bp --target=i686 kernel-2.6.spec
-bash: rpmbuild: command not found

I then tried to do an apt-get install for rpm, but I always get the following error:

Installing custom kernel

The default kernel installed is not optimized for the C3-2 CPU that the EPIA-M has. Since the lircd package requires kernel sources to compile, might as well install a custom kernel.

Starting with Fedore Core 3, to recompile the kernel you need to download the Source version of the kernel package.

up2date --get-source kernel

This downloads it to a semi-wierd location. To install the source code you need to do the following steps. You'll need to replace the downloading kernel*.src.rpm name with whatever you downloaded.

cd /var/spool/up2date
rpm -i kernel-2.6.11-1.14_FC3.src.rpm
cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS
rpmbuild -bp --target noarch kernel-2.6.spec

Now you will have the source code installed under /usr/src/redhat/BUILD.
