Hi all. I'm new to this forum. Just got my HW setup yesterday and now working on getting MythDora up and running.
Hardware:
Asus Pundit-R 350 (ATI graphics on board)
1 GB RAM
250 MB Maxtor HD
Hauppauge-PVR 350 Video card
I just tried the install from disk and ran into an interesting issue which I haven't seen a resoultion to anywhere on the "Installation and Setup" forums: After I type "auto" (or any of the other valid commands, for that matter), the install starts, a whole bunch of startup text quickly scrolls by, and then my screen gets all garbeled. I'm guessing this is happening when the graphics start.
I've tried the following:
1. S-vid from Asus to TV
2. vid-out from Asus to TV
3. S-vid from PVR-350 to TV
4. vid-out from PVR-350 to TV
In the case of #3 and #4, I don't see anything (blank screen).
In the case of #1 and #2, I get the garbeled video.
The HD on the Asus is empty (no OS), so I'm a bit at a loss as to how to get the ball rolling. If necessary, I have access to a Knoppix LiveCD. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Alright, I got a fellow
Alright, I got a fellow Pundit user :-). Let's start from the beginning. From how your telling this you seem to be installing by using a TV as the output. If so, you can't do that. You have to use a CRT first to get things installed and setup and then once you decide to go to TV then you will make that switch.
If you did an auto install, this should have gone through installation no matter how you were connected. If your still having problems then I would check the md5sum and make sure you have a good disk. This could be either a bad download or bad burn. But either way we'll get your Mything in no time.

You are correct, sir!
You're absolutely correct! I am using the TV as a front end. As I started doing some searching around, I thought it might have something to do with the default NTSC or PAL setting (I'm in the US, so I need NTSC), but playing around with that didn't make a difference.
I've just set MythDora to do an autoinstall and am sitting back and watching as my garbled screen changes colors. I guess I'll just wait to see what happens. Is there anything I will need to do (hit return) at any point or will things boot up themselves?
edit:
A point came where it seemed nothing else was happening, so I hit the return key. The CD ejected, and my box restarted.
For a sec I was excited because I saw the loader come up, but then after that, the screen got garbled again. I tried changing around the cables to use the PVR-350 rather than the Asus S-vid, but no go. I'll use a monitor tomorrow to see what's going on.
Ex-post notice:
I got my monitor hooked up and looks like things are finally visible. Thx for the help.
