Will MD5 run on a primitive 32bit processor?

I may be wrong, but seems like MD5 will only run on 64bit processors. Is that correct?

MD5 is still a 32 bit os.

MD5 is still a 32 bit os. Sure it'll run on 64 bit processors as many of us do but even at that, it is running in 32 bit mode. The very reason why x86_64 won over Itanium is this compatibility. BTW, where did anyone ever get the idea that MD5 was a 64 bit os?

well, yes

You may not be able to use the nice new deinterlacers (yadif, greedyh) on some content with older slower processors but the mythtv and hence MD5 requirements go back to 500 MHz class processors for SD contenet IIRC.

There is no dependance on AMD x86_64 instructions; MD5 is a 32bit app.

(Of course, a nice new complete 780G based AMD 5400+ system can be put together for less than $400 USD ...)
