Since upgrade get intermittant stall/freezing of frontends while navigating recorded programs. Or other times will just have empty recorded program list and a message about backend connection lost. Reboot of backend and frontends are required to get them working again and it is happening every 4-5 hours. In between everything seems to work fine. Happens to both frontends simultaneously.</p>\n<p>While the frontends are frozen I can open a terminal window on the frontend and ping the backend server without problem. Installed MythDora a week ago and after couple of days I was exploring some special functions like the MythDora CronJobs. Updated to MD5 using freash install on backend and 2 separate frontends. Since upgrade get intermittant stall/freezing of frontends while navigating recorded programs. Or other times will just have empty recorded program list and a message about backend connection lost. Reboot of backend and frontends are required to get them working again and it is happening every 4-5 hours. In between everything seems to work fine. Happens to both frontends simultaneously.
While the frontends are frozen I can open a terminal window on the frontend and ping the backend server without problem. Mythbackend.log on server shows the following:

not fixed in July 2008 release
I installed MythDora end of July 2008 and even did a 'yum update'. Things were running fine the first 4 days, but now my backend is restarting every minute, resulting in recordings being chopped in one minute chunks. Which makes it pretty useless.

Luckily I resolved this before going mad. Installed MythDora a week ago and after couple of days I was exploring some special functions like the MythDora CronJobs. Didn't know what they would be doing, but I thought let's explore, careful not to change anyting.
Well, the User Interface absolutely SUCKS, it opens a little X-window that you can't close, but it tells you that it will go away after 30 secs. Now that is bad GUI design, but it gets worse!! Close examination will reveal that at the end of those 30 secs it has also toggled the option. So you didn't only watch what how it was set, you (ignorantly) at the same time changed it.
And then in the case of "BackEnd Check" (or becheck) the program also has a HUGE bug. It will result in recordings being chopped in single minute pieces.
!@#!@#$, this sucks!!
I'm now not sure anymore which options I also changed (without knowing) by just looking at them. Maybe I should reinstall the whole system to be sure.....

Dennis - I don't know if this should be a formal bug report but I noticed I was still getting the "unable to read configuration file mysql.txt" in mythbackend.log and realized for whatever reason there was no mysql.txt file in /usr/share/mythdora on the dedicated backend server. I created a link to the .mythtv/mysql.txt file and cured that problem. Just don't know why it didn't get created on install.

Looked like we were going to be OK but then still getting 1-2 frontend loss of communication / day. Better than it was before in terms of frequency but no less annoying. The number following the word MythSocket is different now if that makes any difference. Here is a /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log snippet
These MythSocket error messages continued for the next 45 minutes until I restarted mythbackend service

I don't think there errors
I don't think there errors are at all related to becheck. If the becheck bug was in effect you'd see the multiple restarts in the mythbackend.log which doesn't seem to be the case here.
I'd say you might want to try disabling checksuming on the network adapters on both frontend/backend. In recent kernels I've had some issues with hw checksuming that wasn't present in the older kernels.
It's just a shot in the dark but can't help but try.

The mysql.txt file gets
The mysql.txt file gets created during install in home directory. This has never been an issue. Not sure why yours wouldn't have been there.

Thanks for continued suggestions. Becheck is already off, making change to NIC checksum did not help. Any other thoughts?
