Add/Remove software not working

I am running MD4 as a combined FE/BE. Whenever I try to install software I get an error message: "Unable to retrieve software information. This could be caused by not having a network connection available." I have a fully functioning ethernet connection so I don't know why it's complaining. BTW, I am trying to install Skype for FC6.

Do you mean the software
Do you mean the software sources are not being updated by fedora anymore? If so, what options do I have?
Compile your new software
Compile your new software from source on MD4 or switch to MD5.

Fedora 6, being too old to be useful in Red Hat's development efforts, has been retired to pasture with a DNR sign on the gate. There it can live on in peace until the day comes when it can no longer answer the call of the power on button. You are free to ride it until that day comes, but no new burdens can be placed on it and if it becomes injured it will be euthanized.
So, if you want Skype, it's time to plow a new pasture. ;-)
