I've used mythtv (for several years) and mythdora (since MD4) and MD5 is excellent, thanks to all the hard work for putting this together.

I have two frontends each with their own backend one is MD4 and one is MD5.

I'd like to upgrade my MD4 box, but it was a bit complex to build because of the h/w - its a VIA EX15000G with a hauppauge 350 that I am using the 350s TV out for video and I change channels on my SA3250 with firewire.

First question - has anyone succesfully got the EX15000G video to work properly and support MPEG2 and MPEG4 under linux? I can get the video working with unichrome, but mpeg sucks.

Second question - If I want to continue to use my 350 as TV-out do I need to patch my install with the rpm update or is the current MD5 ISO up-todate?

third question - same as second expect what about firewire, is there a patch for that now, I believe I read that it is not part of the disk.

Have no idea but I do know there is a bug in mythfrontend that may effect you. Have no idea if it has been corrected in the updated rpm versions of MythTV.

Correct. Do Not attempt to setup the 350 TV-out on initial install. Bypass that at install, then do a mythtv upgrade and then go into MythDora Tools -> MythDora Settings -> Rerun Machine Setup and setup TV-out from there.

No. The firewire kernel module was left off accidently.

Thanks Dennis - so to get

Thanks Dennis - so to get Firewire today I need to custom build a kernel, thats not a problem.

I didn't know about the other issue - but have no issues with the box I put MD5 on which was that h/w....
