Just wanted to find out what player people are using for Movies. I have most of my dvd collection ripped to ISO files on my MD5 box. I am currently using the Internal Player for them. I like this because the interface is the same as watching TV. However it is a bit buggy .. eg menus dont operate correctly on a lot of my dvds.
I have had a play around with xine, which also does a good job. The issue I have ( or actually my wife has ) with xine is that you cant rewind ... you can skip backwards a set number of seconds, but you cant actually rewind like you can with the internal player. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know ...
I briefly had a look at mplayer too, but i dont believe this can play iso files.
Anyway, interested to hear others peoples choices.
John

Easily fixed
The issue I have ( or actually my wife has ) with xine is that you cant rewind ... you can skip backwards a set number of seconds, but you cant actually rewind like you can with the internal player.
Easily fixed I think. Open up your lircrc file located in /home/mythtv/.mythtv . About 7/8 way down you will see a section like so:
begin
prog = xine
button = FORWARD
#config = SpeedFaster
config = SeekRelative+60
end
begin
prog = xine
button = REWIND
#config = SpeedSlower
config = SeekRelative-60
end
Uncomment the config lines saying SpeedFaster SpeedSlower then comment the ones saying SeekRelative. This "should" give you normal ffw and rew. You may have to either restart lirc or the frontend to get it to work. If not just reboot.

That's what I thought. I don't think Xine will let you rewind like the internal player. It rewinds and fast forwards in position increments.

I have a similar issue with Xine.
I have the entire collection of Ask A Ninja and the .mov files will only play audio in Xine but once it starts it will not exit back to the main menu until it has finished playing. If I fast forward to the end it will exit to the menu.
Is there an exit command for Xine that I could add to my remote?
Or maybe a patch or upgrade for the internal player to play .mov files with audio. (videos play fine using the internal player just no sound with .mov files)
