MD5, stock installation, pvr-350 (not using svideo out)
I have an nvidia GeForce 6500 card with svideo tv out and used the nvidia utility in X to set it up (logged in as root). All works fine until I reboot, then the tv out setup disappears (local monitor still work perfectly).
If I log out the mythtv user, log back in as root, do nothing, log out root, and log back in as the mythtv user...tv out starts working and all is fine; until the next reboot, shutdown, or power-cycle.
I'm guessing it's a permissions issue, any ideas?

Why did you use the Nvidia
Why did you use the Nvidia utility as root? That looks to be the issue?

I would look to see if your xorg.conf files vary between root and user. Is there in fact a section in your xorg.conf file that allows for TV-out for the mythtv user? If so then I would check your xorg log with this.

I think we might be on a bit of a wild goose chase here. I just noticed that the tv out settings disappear only if there is no tv connected when it reboots. So I retested. The real failure mode is:
Reboot without a TV -> loose tv out -> attach TV -> log out mythtv user -> log mythtv user back in -> all is fine.
Is there an auto detect happening?

My TV is in the living room.
My TV is in the living room. It has video feeds from ReplayTv, MythTv, Dvd, and VCR (well, VCR is connected but rarely used). All the signals come to a single Radio Shack switch. The output of the switch goes to the TV (one switch position for each source).
Whenever the MythTv source is not selected on the switch, it's effectively removed from the MythTv box. So....reboot the box and loose Tv out.
I've had it set up like this for years, but just recently disconnected a monitor TV that was in parallel with the main TV. Well, I guess that explains it; I have to reconnect the other monitor. Thanks for all the help and .... sorry for the goof!
