Does it make sense to have both the PVR350 and pcHDTV5500 in the same machine?
I was planning to use the PVR350 for basic cable (non HD) recording and the pcHDTV 5500 for OTA HD broadcasts.

I have almost the same setup
I have a PVR-150 and a pcHDTV5500 in the same machine. It works great. The 5500 will do SD (in software) when not doing HD so it can be used as another SD tuner if needed. OTA HD stations may very well already be available to you with your current cable plan (the cable company legally isn't supposed to encrypt stations available OTA). The only hard part for me was getting the correct HD channels set up with cable. The numbers didn't corrospond to anything and I had to watch the news to see what channel was what :-).
Make sure the machine has decent specs! I have an Athlon 4800 X2 and that seems to work fairly well.
That's what you
That's what you want.
