Howdy Folks.

From the HDPVR wiki : http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HD-PVR

>MythDora 10.21 with kernel 2.6.27.9-159 includes drivers for the HD-PVR, no compilation is necessary.

I was under the impression that HDPVR support wouldn't be included in 0.21, and was waiting on stable 0.22. Am I seeing right here, that I can finally hook up my HDPVR box to a MythDora? I don't see mention of it in the change log...

I've been following the mythtv-users mailinglist, in which users are fairly regularly slapped with 'run the svn trunk and read -dev -commits'. Something I really don't have the time or WAF for...

Oh, and thanks for the MythDora update, btw...

MythDora SVN

What you are reading is correct. The drivers are already included in 10.21 BUT you still have to run SVN MythTV in order for this unit to work. So if you really want to use this device I will give out the command to pull in the latest MythTV SVN code. Jarod has this up to date as of 1/17/09.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. THIS IS BLEEDING EDGE CODE THAT IS NOT ENTIRELY STABLE. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK !!
yum --enablerepo=\*rawhide upgrade \*myth\* \*Myth\*

021-fixes rpm instead of trunk?

I looked at the rpmfusion rawhide listings and I couldn't tell if it was trunk or 021-fixes, but based on your post it's trunk. Is there an rpm that anyone knows of for 021-fixes? You don't *need* to run trunk for the hdpvr, 021-fixes will suffice. I am having great difficulty trying to compile 021-fixes on my mythdora 10.21 and would greatly appreciate a yum upgrade to 021-fixes.

Upon further inspection, rpmfusion appears to have 021 fixes rpms from Dec 31, 2008. I believe 021-fixes from around January 14th is necessary for the hdpvr (according to posts in the mythtv wiki).

If 021-fixes rpms are updated monthly in rpmfusion, then the hdpvr should be supported at the end of the month.

HD PVR and 0.21-fixes

Pardon, but wtf are you talking about? Where in the MythTV wiki does it say that, and who was the person that wrote it? There's no HD PVR support in 0.21-fixes and pretty sure there won't ever be. Adding HD PVR support requires database schema changes, which can't be done w/o breaking the upgrade path to 0.22. Just to be sure, I talked to Daniel and Janne about it... THERE WILL NOT BE A 0.21 MYTHTV PACKAGE THAT SUPPORTS THE HD PVR. Period.

Also, fwiw, the rpmfusion mythtv package maintainer doesn't build packages on a set schedule, he builds them when he thinks (or someone tells him they think) there is something worth rebuilding for. (Nb: *I'm* the rpmfusion mythtv package maintainer).

Jarod, you are of course quite right. I looked again at the Wiki, including the history, an I'm really not sure what I was thinking. I somehow got 021-fixes in my head regarding this; not sure what that's all about X-(. I apologize for my very bad post.

I clearly hit a nerve with you, and for that I apologize as well. I know that you are the rpmfusion mythtv package maintainer as I see your name all over it. Believe me, I appreciate a great deal what you do for MythTv and MythDora!

Dirk

Does this still work?

All I get is "No packages marked for update"...

Thanks

No rawhide repo files in md 10.21

Whoops. I passed along that command to Dennis. It works on a Fedora 10 system, where the fedora rawhide and rpmfusion rawhide yum repo config files are present. We have no such beast in MythDora 10.21 though, so if you really really want to go to mythtv svn trunk, you'll have to craft some appropriate yum repo config files (or heist them from somewhere else) for that command to work.

Thanks... I did not know this existed until the other day. Yay.

If you put together a repo

If you put together a repo for this please post the contents of that repo so someone else can use SVN if they are brave enough.

How did the Build Go?

I would like to know if anyone has done the .22 upgrade from rawhide and gotten it to work?
I tried it (after backing up my backend database of course :)) but had the same dependency problems. My linux skills are too lacking to track down these problems and solve them.
I am interested in running .22 or a newer version of .21 for a simple reason. I have a few windows machines that I'm trying to do the windows port of MythTV to work on. I have successfully compiled with windows port, but it is a newer version (and newer DB protocol) than my backend. The first time I did this, I didn't understand the DB protocol issues, I let it upgrade my backend DB and of course, that hosed it for my other systems (I have 3 front end only machines and 1 dedicated backend all running MythDora)
Anyway ... I think if I get .22 up and running, it will allow me to play a little more safely with the windows port. It also might let me play with VDPAU on the machines that I have with Geforce>8
