keeps dropping out of mythtv

I finally got everything setup except that when watching tv it looks decent on a monitor, but horrible on a tv, and when i hit back/exit on the remote when watching tv it drops me back to the desktop. and when i try and swap the p-in-p it drops me back to the desktop. My computer should be able to run it:

AMD64 3200+
1 Gig RAM
Nvidia Geforce MX
200 Gig HD
PVR-350
2 PVR-150
