Frontend Timeout and Password

Theres another button to activate the screensaver which you can uncheck if you like. I left mine active (but with the lock screen de-activated) and selected the \"Cosmos\" screensaver. I have installed Mythdora 10.21 on my backend and on a remote Frontend.

Default install.
I think I checked the option for Mythdora updates, and Fedora updates

I like the screensaver, just deactivate the screen-lock

I did not enable it. I did a normal default install.
Mythdora Updates is the only repo I added during the install.

don't make it too dificult for those of us who like the screen saver to install it.
I can't explain how it came to be enabled the first time, but in the two subsequent MD10 installs I've done I had to install gnome screensaver after installing MD10.
So it appears to me that what you did for MD10 is fine.

You'll have to do the same yum install gnome-screensaver in MythDora 12. It's not natively on the build.

We disable the screensaver at install time via the gdm configuration. If you're having it run.. they my assumption is you toggled it back on (unknowingly I presume).

Or did you by chance enable fedora repos or some other extra repo during installation?

I just did a fresh installation of 10,21 then upgraded to 10.22.
Now I can't figure out how to enable the screensaver. In my last install, as discussed above, there was a "screensaver" submenu under "look and feel" in the Fedora system preferences. It's not there this time.
How can I re-enable the screensaver? I have a CRT based RPTV, and the screen saver was perfect for preventing burn-in when paused for extended periods (or when sitting at a menu) with the TV on.

Update (12/10/2009): I figured it out. All I needed to do was install the gnome screensaver (system-> add/remove software-> Gnome-> "Gnome screensaver"), then go in and uncheck the "Lock Screen when Screensaver is active" button. You must then reboot the system before the screensaver will function.

New twist - black-out while viewing

So, as I said, I had the screensaver before and it worked great.
It only went active when playback was paused or it was at a menu.
But since I installed it on my new setup (see above post) it causes the screen to black-out while viewing. Weird. The screensaver works normally otherwise. But during viewing I get this black-out after the same time interval as is set for the screensaver.
Any ideas? I really need to have this feature to prevent burn-in (like when my son pauses asomething only to forget and not return to it until hours later....)

Update: Screensaver works fine now...

So I did a fresh install of MD 10.22 the other day. then I installed the Gnome screensaver, tested it. It works fine!
I don't know what was causing the blackout I observed previously. But it is gone now.
Life is good.
