Has anyone had any success with NTSC reception and the HVR-1800 using MythDora?

Linuxtv.org says it's supported since kernel 2.6.25 for analog and digital (http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/ATSC_PCIe_Cards), but I've yet to read about someone getting it to work.

I just bought the card after someone assured me it would work under MythTV, as his hvr-1600 was working, but general consensus seems to indicate the contrary... I hadn't found this forum yet. =(

I can't test it out yet, the rest of my hardware hasn't arrived yet. Getting the analog cable/NTSC to work is paramount, the card will otherwise be useless to me and I might as well use is as an ice scrapper.

While we're on the subject: are there any known issues with the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H AMD780G and MythDora? (ie: did I shoot myself in the foot *twice*...)

For the record: I'm a linux noob - compiling the kernel, drivers and whatnot is scary stuff to me! heck, most of the arcane commands/scripts are scary too - but if I must, and given enough guidance, I'll give it a try! i just *reeaallly* don't want to buy Vista :P

Thanks for any advice!

The analog side of the card

The analog side of the card does not work only digital unless it's changed.

So, no hope for analog?

Yeah, I had seen that thread, I was hoping the situation might have changed already or that someone had found a way...

I read of a way to get analog to work on Linuxtv.org, extract from http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-1800 :

Quote:

To get Analog to work, follow the steps as shown in How to build from Mercurial up to "Build the Modules" and build the driver.

After "make install" is finished and if the system has loaded the default kernel's module, unload it with: modprobe -r cx23885

Has anyone tried this?
The link to 'How to build from Mercurial' doesn't work though...

Anyone?

We just installed MD-10 with a HVR-1600 using both tuners. It was a pita. I don't know if its the same but I'll post what we did this afternoon when I get home, was just walking out the door and saw this post.
