Hi all,
I tried my luck with the Hauppauge HVR-1800, but that turned out to be way more hassle than it's worth so it's going back (I never got it working w. mythdora, and the analog picture quality under Vista MCE is grainy and subpar).
Next question is: which is the best analog (NTSC) tuner I can get to work "out-of-the-box" with mythdora, or with as less pita as possible, offering the best picture quality?
I hear the PVR-150/250/350 have better analog quality than the HVR-1800, but does it equal that of the TV's internal tuner?
I will not be using OTA, and my cable has no clear QAM, so the digital side of the card need not be considered.
In the best of worlds, the card would also work in Vista and come with a remote that also works "out-of-the-box" in mythdora & Vista.
TIA!

PVR-500 Discontinued
With the PVR-500 discontinued by Hauppauge, what is the best Analog capture card available?
Earl
I meant pvr-150
pvr-150 or pvr-500, not pvr-100.

I've never had trouble with the PVR-100 or PVR-500 (essentially two PVR-100s on one card). They're kind of the gold standard for analog.

Hard to compare because there is always some compression involved with the card, but it is definately better than analog TIVO. I wouldn't call it grainy or subpar, but that also depends on your video output.

You can select the gray Hauppauge remote in MythDora install, so it works OOTB, though you may choose to tweak it. I don't know about Vista--check if drivers are available from Hauppauge or MS.
Just ordered a PVR 150
Done deal: NCIX had the PVR 150 MCE w. remote on sale for $50 (cdn), down from $75.
I'll follow up on image quality when I get it!
