MythDora 10.21 Can't seem to schedule a recording

In mythtv-setup (General section), be sure you are not using the localhost address or 127.0.0.1 as the address of your Local Backend. I didn\'t change the default when setting up my myth backend and so I too could not schedule programs in mythweb even though I had listings and could see them under the Scheduled Recordings link.</p>\n<p>After I set the address for the Local Backend to the address of the backend I then could see scheduled recordings. BTW, I am using a Debian Lenny distro as my backend but I assume it looks virtually the same for all distros. Fedora 10.21, Hauppage PV-350. I can't seem to schedule an recordings in MythTV. Going through MythWeb I can see programs in the schedule from which I want to record, select that program, and say record every day in this time slot on this channel. But when I check the scheduled recordings, there are none. I've done the same thing through the mythfrontend and get the same result.

scheduling recordings

This gets me every time so I'm going to reply. In mythtv-setup (General section), be sure you are not using the localhost address or 127.0.0.1 as the address of your Local Backend. I didn't change the default when setting up my myth backend and so I too could not schedule programs in mythweb even though I had listings and could see them under the Scheduled Recordings link.

After I set the address for the Local Backend to the address of the backend I then could see scheduled recordings. BTW, I am using a Debian Lenny distro as my backend but I assume it looks virtually the same for all distros. Hope this helps someone.

Well if your using a seperate frontend connecting to a master backend then yes you have to change the IP address to the backend IP address so frontends can connect. This is documented in the F.A.Q. But a box being used as a frontend/backend does NOT have to have a static IP address set in mythtvsetup under General.

I was answering to why the person couldn't schedule recordings via mythweb. I couldn't get scheduling to work either until I changed the backend's ip from 127.0.0.1 in mythtv-setup to its non-local address i.e. 192.168.1.108. It didn't make sense to me either, but it worked.

You shouldn't be having this issue. This works perfectly for me and has since I've used MythTV. Sounds like it could be a hostname issue or maybe the database is mucked up.
