In MD 12.23 when I try to watch ISOs in MythVideo or play an actual DVD, I get an error "Video frame buffering failed too many times." And, of course, the video never starts. If I use VLC to play an ISO or DVD outside myth, it works fine. I'm not sure how I should troubleshoot this. If I launch mythfrontend via the CLI, I get a number of errors like this when I try to play a DVD or ISO:
AFD Error: Unknown decoding error
[mpeg2video @ 0x5f23260] get_buffer() failed (stride changed)
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Thanks for the info. I just loaded Mythbuntu 10.04rc and am having the exact same problem. So, I suspect it is an issue with myth that will hopefully get resolved soon. I guess it may be hardware related, but I think that's unlikely in my case. I'll just keep running my MD 10.21 box for a while longer and hope some fixes become available soon.
May have to wait for updated fixes
I remember reading there were some dvd player fixes that were yet to be backported to 0.23 fixes.
I imagine there will be an updated 0.23 fixes available from RPM fusion at some stage and hopefully it will be fixed.
In the meantime, you could install XBMC:
sudo yum install xbmc xorg-x11-utils
For your remote to work you may have to start xbmc telling it where the lirc socket is as it has changed:
xbmc -l /var/run/lirc/lircd
(the -l is an L)
Ben
We were getting this as well,
We were getting this as well, but only with some of our ISO images. Not sure what the difference was between the affected ones and the ones that worked normally. For short term we just set up Mplayer to play ISO images. The following weekend we converted all 273 movies over to AVI format, so we could use storage groups and use less space on our hard-drives.
We had 2 laptops and 3 desktops and our poor backend server was going crazy moving files back and fourth converting them all.
A fix may be coming?
Hopefully this is correct:

Strange behavior
I've just noticed that when I attempt to launch an ISO in mythvideo, it actually attempts to read the DVD in the drive. No matter which ISO I select. And if there is no disk in the drive, the ISO does not play. I'm just pushed back to the list of videos. This is very strange behavior. I'm going to have to assume this is a bug and that a fix will be coming.
