I created a Mythdora 12 386 install DVD, verified the disk, and then tried to upgrade my Mythdora 10.22 system using the DVD. I ran into two problems:

- After telling the install procedure to update my 10.22 system (which the installer found) and right after it asked me whether to update the boot loader configuration (to which I said "yes"), the DVD generated an error message:

"Unable to read package metadata
Could not retrieve /mnt/sysimage/var/cache/yum/anaconda/...

If I then chose a different install path (e.g., http or NFS) and then switched back to CD/DVD for the install path, the Mythdora installation procedure was able to find the install data and continue a little bit but then generated another error message:

An unhandled exception has occurred, this is most likely a bug
Anaconda 12.46 exception report
Traceback
File: /usr/lib/anaconda/backend.py" line 134 in Initlog

And then I was stuck and couldn't go further.

Are the above known errors? Does anyone know a work around?

Thanks,

Henry

Solved one problem which led to another

My trouble updating from Mythdora 10.22 to Mythdora 12 was evidently a result of having run out of inodes in Mythdora 10.22. After clearing out files in /var/cache and rebooting with the Mythdodra 12 386 install DVD, the update proceeded past the point of checking consistency of all files to be installed, but then stopped with this error message:

file openal-soft-1.11.753-3.20100225git.fc12.it686.rpm cannot be opened. This is due to missing file, a corrupt package, or corrupt media.

Since I verified the DVD during the install process (and it passed), I am confused what next step I could take, is the problem a bad set of files that I downloaded from mythdora? I find that hard to believe.

I ran into the same problem

I ran into the same problem multiple times when I had selected additional repositories (Fedora Updates, Mythdora Updates, etc).
Media test worked fine.

Eventually I went with the default repositories during setup and everything worked fine.

No chance to specify repositories when updating Mythdora

When I used the Mythdora 12 i386 DVD to update my existing Mythdora 10.22 system, I never saw a chance to specify repositories to use. So your suggestion would not help here.

I am still unable to update my 10.22 system, I keep running into bugs. At this point, I will probably back up all the video and music files and the database, reformat the hard drive, install Mythdora 12, and then restore the old files (ugh).

I ran into the same problem

I ran into the same problem on upgrade on another frontend.
Upgrading the bootloader (1st option) as opposed to installing a fresh bootloader (3rd option) got me past that anaconda error.

Hmm. It's possible there

Hmm. It's possible there could be some conflicts there, but that's not the error message that was provided.

Either way, the recommended method is to only check the "mythdora-updates" repo and nothing else for the initial install.

Mythdora 12 install failure

Unable to do clean install from disk 1 of the two disk x86 64-bit set (medium tests good): exception thrown, said to be probable bug.
