After several years of great service, I lost everything.

It seems that we had a power outage sometime Friday and when it went to start on the next boot "DISK BOOT FAILURE" occurs.

I had a PATA drive with an image on it, but to keep a long story short it's not working.

Are packages such as kernel, nvidia GT220 drivers, firewire, and HD-PVR still available for MythDora 5? Or should I start with latest Fedora? What's the recommendation?

Have you tried.....

Booting from a live CD?

This may help identify if it is a software or hardware issue.

If it is software, a live CD will enable you to mount the partitions, including the LVM (google it) and copy all of your critical stuff across - potentially including your DB and recordings.

I had to do this a few years ago, and used a live cd to get my IR webmin, samba and VLC setups and copy them onto a usb drive (which now provides a back up all my customized configs)
I also took the opportunity to create a list of install steps should i ever have to repeat it.

If you are able to salvage the DB you will have to install the version you finished with for compatibility.

tried

Thanks, I tried both drives connected and the bios doesn't recognize one of them. I then tried just one, but the bios doesn't even recognize the drives.

I'll try another box eventually.

I came across this

I came across this http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-Raw-Copy-Tool/ and will report it back.

luck

I copied the drive to a new 1 tb drive using the above HDD raw copy (I would presume g4u would probably work too).

When I do an fdisk -l, it just shows /dev/sdb1. Thinking I need to mount the volume, I try that, but complains about missing partition table. I then go into fdisk and it also complains about a missing partition table, it has something about needing to do a write. I do a write and then the mount and the files are there.

Now hopefully the second drive will do the same for me.
