Upgrading MythDora from 10.22 to 12.23...
Hello,
I think I am finally ready to upgrade from my current version of 10.22 to 12.23, however, I am unsure of how to go about it. I have one combined frontend/backend and I have read the release notes but it's not clear to me the complete process. I have backed up all my data, so do I need to download the 12.23 via LiveCD and boot from said CD and hope it finds my current install and choose upgrade?
Or can I use the "yum" command to do the upgrade? I have tried this method and I think I am missing a step or "yum" is configured incorrectly because after typing "yum upgrade mythdora" I get:
Loading plugins: refresh-packagekit
Setting up Update Process
No Packages marked for Update
I have also run commands like "yum clean all" with no noticeable effect.
What things do I need to check to get this to update?
Thanks for your help.

I would recommend you get the DVD installer and a fresh (bigger) hard drive.
Install fresh on the new hard drive and get things running, update to latest 0.24 and tweaked for your remote, video card etc. You can do this over several days if necessary.
Then put your old drive back in and do a database backup. Copy that over to the new drive. When you start Myth from the new drive it prompt to update the database schema for both backend and frontend.
Now you can either copy over your media, or re-use the old drive as part of a storage group.
I can't remember if the LVM volume group names have changed between 10 and 12 but you can rename them if required from a linux boot cd in any case. Then you can mount the old drive and use the storage of both in a storage group.
Advantage of this approach is it is non-destructive. You can always swap back to the old drive until you are ready to put 12.24 into "production". Nothing ruins a high WAF more that unanticipated issues during the upgrade meaning someone misses recording her favourite show...

You cannot use the LiveCD to update as it's not the full anaconda installer. You'll need the DVD release of 12.23 to perform an upgrade. Look at the bottom of the release notes for a few gotchas in terms of upgrading.
If you're using a mostly stock 10.21/22 upgraded host you should have no issues. But if you've added on 3rd party repos like atrpm, or others you may have conflicts that make the installer bomb.
If you've got the space, I'd suggest using clonezilla or something to backup your root partition should you need to restore it.
