Help needed with TV hardware
I'm trying to add a TV tuner/capture card to my Ultimate Edition 2.9 64 bit Linux desktop computer. I want to be able to transfer VHS tapes to DVD and to watch TV from the TV2 coaxial output from my Dish Network Sat. TV box tuned to channel 60.
I spent almost 2 weeks trying to get a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 ATSC/ClearQAM/NTSC TV Tuner PCI card to work on this system with no luck, even though it worked perfectly in Windows.
I'm sending it back Monday and would like to order SOMETHING THAT WILL WORK this time with Linux right out of the box with little hassle. The problem I was having is it wasn't being "seen" by any of the TV apps available. I'd get messages like "can't find /dev/video0 try again", to an error from Mythdora saying "probe failed".
Can anyone recommend a CURRENTLY MANUFACTURED easy to setup USB or PCI device that will allow me to watch TV and capture video from my VCR? I don't want to go through the headache I just went through for almost 2 weeks AGAIN!
Thanks,
Snyde
