Dvico Dual Fusion MCE Remote Lirc info

My only suggestion is to make sure you have the external USB IR reciever hooked up to the same usb port that you had it originally working in. hmm, thats very strange. My only suggestion is to make sure you have the external USB IR reciever hooked up to the same usb port that you had it originally working in. Its a long shot, but it wont hurt trying

Also run IRW in terminal and press some buttons on the remote. If it is a software problem, rather then a hardware problem with the reciever, all your button presses should be listed.

Double check that the lircd

Double check that the lircd process has been started (the command to start the process is "/etc/init.d/lircd start" ).

If the lircd process is running, and irw is still not picking up any of your keypresses, then it sounds like it is definitely a hardware issue. If my suggestion above (ie: the usb ports) didnt work then you should double check that the batteries in your remote are still good. From memory, the DVICO mce remote has a little green light right up the top, so if the batteries are still working then that green right should light up when you press buttons on the remote.

Finally got a chance to have look at the box, and lo and behold, the connector for the IR receiver has an issue.

Actually it was more than an issue, it had fallen off!

I then had to file down my soldering iron tip to make it thin enough to get between the USB connector and the Antenna connector and then resoldered the 3 connections to the board. These are not thru - board connections, just surface mount.

I suggest anyone having any sort of IR issue with the DVICO dual DVB card should have a look at this connector.

ALSA involved?

I have been trying to get audio out of the SPDIF port on my motherboard, and now it appears that whilst I have ALSA about 90% right (still too fast in Mythmusic 44.1Khz vs 48K at SPDIF) it has now caused my remote to go back to the old partly working config!!!
