Well MythDora was never intended to be a full blown OS. It was designed to use MythTV only and that's it. If you want to add other programs to MythDora you can but be warned, if you go to add packages and it pulls in other dependencies, it may break a function of the MythTV program. This is a choice you will have to make. So if you want to install other packages you can always use apt-get to do this or you can manually install them yourself.

If you want to use your

If you want to use your mythbox for general computing purposes you may be better off going with a distro like Ubuntu and then following instructions (like these here: http://parker1.co.uk/mythtv_ubuntu.php ) on how to setup mythtv afterwards. I only say that because setting up mythtv is probably going to be a lot easier for you then getting all those other applications you wanted installed and running properly.

Let us know how you make out

Let us know how you make out on this, I want to take the same path,
open office, email, firefox, standalone music player, various games etc.

A much smarter solution if

A much smarter solution if you've got a decent sized hard drive is to use 10 gig to install FC6 or F7 or Ubuntu and use the rest of the drive for MythDora and dual boot to the O/S you want to use.

MythDora will probably work with Open Office and definitely works with Thunderbird email and FireFox. Music players are much more risky when it comes to foreign dependencies. The absolutely worst thing you can do is add repositories like livna and freshrpms to get software that's not available at ATrpms. That will put you in dependency hell in a heartbeat and you won't even know it's happened until it's too late to recover.
