Welcome to MythDora.COM, home of MythDora. MythDora is a Fedora and MythTV "All-In-One" DVD. There is also a 64bit version as well as a LiveCD. The install will load a pre-configured Fedora 10 installation on your computer as well as install and configure MythTV-0.21. There are many extras included with MythDora. Please read below for the features list. Enjoy!

Wanted: Remote Control Setup Information

In preparation of MythDora 11 we are looking for your help. As you know, remote controls and blasting is a hassle for everyone. We're hoping to have as much configuration completed as possible in MD11 and hopefully most of the kinks in configs worked out.

We would like anyone & everyone that had to manually get their receiver/blaster setup that did not work with native MD10.21 tool to post their configurations here.

What we want (as comments to this page):

Remote name & model # if it applies (as it appears in the infrared configuration screen of md10.21)
/etc/lircd.conf

MythDora 10.21

MythDora 10.21 has arrived. That's right we've jumped ahead a few versions to catch us up with our Fedora baseline. The intent is that going forward we'll release versions in-line with current Fedora versions.

There are some major changes for us in this release. We've moved away from the Xdialog installer and into a single firefox configuration for the initial system setup. This same setup can be called via the MythDora Tools menu for a variety of features and for further maintenance as you use your system.

MythDora Team Thanks You

The MythDora team would like to extend a big thank you everyone that has participated in the Hardware Fund Raiser. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and were extremely generous.

Another awesome donation has come from our hardware fund requests. We've been "loaned" a dedicated server in a data center with a 1Gbit back-bone for our development purposes from Alex S.

This will mean our next release will be exclusively developed there and that machine will also become our main mirror host.

DistroWatch donates to MythDora

I would like to thank DistroWatch for making a donation to MythDora and choosing MythDora as the donation of the month for June 2008. We are very honored to have been chosen. The donation will come in handy. All of us on the MythDora team would also like to thank others who have donated and choose to use MythDora as their PVR distribution of choice. If you would like to read the article from DistroWatch here is a link.

- capture card resetup works properly

Upgrading MythDora 4.0 for Schedules Direct

UPDATE - Since FC6 is now dead, you will need to delete all repos located in /etc/yum.repos.d EXCEPT the mythdora repo. Then do the yum upgrade \*myth\* command.

THIS UPGRADE IS FOR THE SCHEDULES DIRECT ENTRY ON A FRESH INSTALL OF VERSION 4.0 XMLTV users please continue on with the way you are doing things.

Fedora Core 6 is now officially unsupported at ATrpms. This is where the newest mythtv packages come from for Fedora. So in order to update MythTV to include the Schedules Direct update from now on, you will need to do the following.

New MythDora 4.0

The new and much improved MythDora 4.0 is finally ready. As you will see, things have improved greatly. Jarod and I have worked hard on this and I can safely say that this is the best version yet. This couldn't have been done without all the help from you beta testers. This was the best response I've gotten so far and I really appreciate all your help. Your help found issues that we never could have seen.

Jarod Wilson joins MythDora

I would like to announce that the one and only Mr. Jarod Wilson has joined in on the development of MythDora. As most of you know Jarod has written the bible on how to install MythTV running Fedora. His website can be seen at Myth(TV)ology. He is also the co-author of Hacking MythTV. http://www.amazon.com/Hacking-MythTV-ExtremeTech-Jarod-Wilson/dp/0470037873

Jarod works for Red Hat in New England as a software engineer. He will be using tools that create the Fedora images that we see today and using them to hopefully create a better and easier building platform for MythDora.

This is a second bugfix release to version 3.0. Hopefully the last. This is mainly to give Nvidia users the chance to install Legacy drivers for older video cards. I also included a new mythstreamtv rpm with corrected code that should allow you to kill the vlc stream now. Thanks to Jeffrey Kosowsky.

MythDora 3.2 fixes/additions

- Added older 8776 Nvidia drivers
- Corrected mythstreamtv
- Updated to latest stable kernel 2.6.18-1.2257.fc5smp
- Updated to MythTV 0.20-148
- Updated ivtv 0.8.2-123
- Added two new remotes (Nebula & Technisat)

MythDora-3.0

THIS IS NOT THE CURRENT VERSION OF MYTHDORA. PLEASE GO TO THE FOLLOWING LINK FOR THE MOST RECENT VERSION:

Current MythDora Version

MythDora 3.0 is now using FC5 along with MythTV-0.20 all on DVD. This DVD will install on various PVR builds. A few changes have been made since the 2.32 version. Hopefully good ones. One big change is that version 3.0 now runs on an SMP kernel. Another big change is that MythDora-3.0 now uses KDE and goes onto a DVD rather than a CD. With change and additions, things just couldn't fit on a CD any longer. The ISO size isn't too much bigger, about 940mb total.

There will no longer be any need for a Unichrome version as the needed bits are now in the modular Xorg-7.0. What is now being used is a single Openchrome Via rpm from the Epia repository at washington.kelkoo.net. This should be enough to allow hardware acceleration for Epia mainboards and S3 video card users.

Please read the F.A.Q. if you have any initial questions. Also look over the README file thats located on your disk. This is where you will find instructions on certain parts of MythDora. There is also an Install Notes at the top of this page which gives you a general idea of how to set things up in mythtvsetup.

One thing you need to make sure of is when you install in either auto or custom, please make sure you disable selinux during install !!!
You will come to this after the first reboot right after being asked about firewall. Good idea to disable firewall as well.

Make sure you complete steps 1-4 in mythtvsetup. If you don't, things will not get created properly in the database. This also goes for those of you who don't have a tuner card installed. At least enter into each section and then esc if you have to. This doesn't apply on a frontend install though.

MythDora 3.0 uses an auto installer that allows your system to install only on the first hard drive and not on your remaining physical hard drives. The installer uses LVM which will allow you to add another HD to your volume group if you so choose.

For those of you new to MythDora, the easiest way to install would be to use the auto install feature. This will install every package on the disk, automatically format your disk(s), create a user mythtv, setup networking, setup MythTV etc., all on the fly. When mythtvsetup finishes, mythfilldatabase will automatically start but only if you have chosen an all-in-one setup and have a valid Data Direct subscription. XMLTV users will need to run mythfilldatabase --manual in the provided xterm screen if need be. After that a reboot will take place as this seems to install your tuner card(s) a little better.

Please be sure to make the appropriate changes in the frontend setup in order for things to work correctly. This may include sound working properly, bitrate adjustment, resolution or changing channels etc.

It's also recommended that you do not do an "apt-get dist-upgrade" , "apt-get upgrade" or "yum update/upgrade" as you run the risk of breaking something. You have been warned!!.

I really want to thank those of you who gave me feedback during the beta testing. This couldn't have been done without you. I really appreciate it.

Also I want to thank one of our members here, inm8, for creating the kickass new logo for MythDora. He did an outstanding job and I don't think you'll be disappointed. I also added in some more eye candy for your viewing pleasure.
