DVICO MCE Fusion remote in MD5 config files

Here are my config files, these were copied from MD4 and slightly modified.

All attachments are appended with .txt, just remove it after downloading

lircd.conf belongs in /etc/
lircd belongs in /etc/sysconfig/
lircrc belongs in /home/mythtv/.mythtv/

just replace all these and reboot and all should be right :)

No USB IR receiver

Thanks for posting the config files RXM307.
I have installed them, but my remote still wont work.

Unlike
http://www.mythdora.com/?q=node/3530
when i run " dmesg | grep input" I get;

Quote:

input: Macintosh mouse button emulation as /class/input/input0
input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input1
input: Microsoft Microsoft 3-Button Mouse with IntelliEye? as /class/input/input2
input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.00 Mouse [Microsoft Microsoft 3-Button Mouse with IntelliEye?] on usb-0000:00:1a.0-2
input: PC Speaker as /class/input/input3
input: Power Button (FF) as /class/input/input4
input: Power Button (CM) as /class/input/input5

As you can see my IR receiver is not listed.

Then when i try to run irw I get;

Quote:

connect: Connection refused

Can anyone advise me on where to from here?

Thanks heaps

AN, I believe I am using the

AN,

I believe I am using the same remote as you are. Was this working for you in MD4, or have you not ever used MD4?

I found that in MD5 there is no longer the "USB" indicator for the remote. In MD5 there are two options, something like Dvico MCE Fusion - new, and the Dvico MCE Fusion. I tried the remote labeled "new" and this did not work for me. Using the other option, my remote worked.

However, I copied my /etc/lircd.conf file and .lircrc file from the MD4 backup. After that, then everything worked fine.

Let me know if this helps, if not; perhaps a copy of the lircd.conf file I have may be of use.

Also note, when using "irw" I believe you need to be in superuser mode (root access). Okay, scratch that, it works with mythtv user all the same.

DK

Yes it worked in MD4

The next link sound a lot like my story.

http://www.mythdora.com/?q=node/3530

I followed the steps and ended up here.

Here is the remote i want to use.

http://www.pccasegear.com/images/remotemce3.jpg

Very similar

I have the "black with purple buttons" MCE remote too. It plugs into a DVico Dual Digital.

You have found (like me) that the DVICO driver does not suit this remote/receiver. It basically acts like a keyboard device.

You can either do as above in lircd

LIRCD_OPTIONS="-H dev/input -d /dev/input/event3 (after figuring out which event number)

or

LIRCD_OPTIONS="-H dev/input -d name='IR-receiver*'"

The latter won't change if you plug a mouse or keyboard in or out between the back room and the lounge room. :-)

I then did an irrecord. I found the commonly available lircd.conf contain the same keystrokes - but my "gap" was a bit different. This seems to vary from remote to remote. I have even noticed different hot/cold difference but not enough to make it stop working.

Cheers
Ian

Try tailing your messages

Try tailing your messages log file (tail -f /var/log/messages) when you disconnect/reconnect your USB IR receiver.

post the output here and we'll see if we can help.

Here it is - all of it.

Thanks for all your help RXM307.

Here is my USB message log.
Its big, i have posted all of it (including up to copying onto my usb stick).
I disconnected and reconnected the USB IR receiver several times from a couple of different USB ports.

Back again!

Sorry RXM307,
I have upgraded to 10.21 and all is well except the bloody remote,
I followed the progress we made last time but received a different result for "lsusb -v -d 0fe9:9010"

You will note the last line of output doesn't sound good.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

WTF does that mean - yours is working, mine is not?

Does this mean its not the usb IR receiver?

On a whim i tested irw with the same result as above.

Thanks for all your help.

AN

mmmm looks like exactly the

mmmm looks like exactly the same hardware, I'm not sure why yours is not working.....

I'd check all the hid devices in /dev

ls -al /dev/hid*

mine is running on /dev/hiddev1 thats why my

/etc/sysconfig/lircd reads as below

LIRCD_OPTIONS="-H dvico -d /dev/hiddev1"

NB. after changing this I found a reboot was required.....

Eureka!

That did the trick!

For anyone thats interested.

Here is the play by play.

Quote:

[mythtv@localhost ~]$ ls -al /dev/hid*
crw-rw---- 1 root root 180, 96 2008-08-02 13:22 /dev/hiddev0

crw-rw---- 1 root root 251, 1 2008-08-02 13:22 /dev/hidraw1
[mythtv@localhost ~]$

I figured that the only hiddev was 0, so changed my

/etc/sysconfig/lircd - to

LIRCD_OPTIONS="-H dvico -d /dev/hiddev0"

reboot and bingo bango

Dvico Fusion black remote with round bump in the middle is alive.

Thanks so much for all your help RXM307.

Im sorry to say that this may turn you into the resident remote expert, and a few more questions.

The missus will love the fact that i can get rid of hte keyboard now and let the living room look like a living room.

Thanks again.

hopefully this will help some other people, I'm just glad I can help as I had the same issue getting this working it was very frustrating considering it was working in MD4.

Im a total punter here!

Sorry to be a complete PITA, but how do i get the usbid?

Both "Isusb" and "usbid" result in "bash: isusb: command not found"

I haven't used command line stuff since DOS!, and never on Linux.

Thanks for all your time RXM307.
